Norm reports in his journal entry for 23 Summer 555 (8/22/04) on a trip to the Puddleby Underground, developments with Melabrion and on Lyfe Island, and a rescue involving Tara, Tigger, and other exiles at the Orga Village.
Sielk has three new updates to his scrolls:

Speedier sent the following announcement to TMN:
"I have a chance to settle some old scores back on the mainland, so I bribed a few sailors to look the other way when I sneak on the supply ship. I'm not sure how long this will take. Probably a few seasons at least. The next time I pass through the Lok'Groton islands, I will be able to bring some good news.
"In Honor of Puddleby,
"Speedier of the Sun Dragon Clan."
TMN Breaking News
Rincewind sent TMN the following report on Melabrion's research:
"Melabrion has apparently completed a major breakthrough in his ongoing research and has a new deal for us all. For the exorbitant fee of one million coins, 30 kegs of brambleberry beer, and a glass of cognac, he will give us six pieces of armor. This comprises two sets of three pieces each: one bronze, one iron; a helm, a breastplate and a shield in each set. The iron set is the superior version, the bronze set the more basic. He will further provide a Sarir to instruct Smythus (the blacksmith in north Puddleby) how to reproduce this armor so that everyone can obtain it; he said there was no restriction on who could wear it. The servant that I talked to was reluctant to say too much about details, but did say that iron, copper, tin, and gold were needed to make these items, and that these metals are available to us now if we search. The servant is ready to accept donations. He's in a somewhat inconvenient spot, though; it's not all that easy to give directly to him. The Sun Dragon and Order of the White Elephant clans (SDC and OWE) have kindly agreed to act as collection agents, so please give any donations towards this mammoth target to one of their members, and they will pass them on to the servant at regular intervals. The servant was unwilling or unable to provide more details and suggested discussing with Melabrion if we have any further queries. Please give generously!"
Discussion of the offer can be found on Clan Lord Sentinel.
Kirth Gersen has passed the fourth circle healer's test. Read more about it in his journal entry for 11 Summer 555.
Lundar reports in the ELF Blog on a recent meeting with Melabrion. Melabrion claims that he and his brothers have the results from their research concerning teleportation stones. Exiles will have to pay to get access to the data, however, and the kiosk for payment is located strangely far away. So much for customer service.
Shakymuni sent the following announcement to TMN:
"Dear Friends...
"Nettle, Drabbie, and I have finally set the date for our wedding. I want to invite you all to join us for FMOCR to get Drabbie a special stone (with any luck), followed by a fantastic ceremony and much partying. We will have a huge amount of food, as well as wonderful tunes, and other entertainment.
"When: Sept 8th, 2004 8:30 P.M. Pacific Time
"Where: Meet at Meadow
"I do hope you all can come help celebrate this wonderful day...
"Tuska OWE!
"Shaky"
Version 351 of the OpenGL Clan Lord Client is available for use. Please be aware that it is beta software, and that the user assumes all risk. Also, as with any volunteer effort, there's no guarantee it will always be available. Many clanners use it and are quite happy with it. If you have reports on using the OpenGL Clan Lord Client, you can join in on the ongoing discussion on Clan Lord Sentinel.

Fleming has filed a report on the ELF Blog about the clan's latest meeting and wide-ranging hunt.
TMN received the following report from Creed:
"I thought other exiles might enjoy seeing this image of an impromptu noids hunt that turned into a rescue and then a really BIG noids hunt. It's a bit hard to see Ragin' Cajun among all the noids and other exiles, but he stood in this narrow corridor and bricked dozens of noids while the rest of the party took turns coming in to swing at them.
"Ragin' looked like he could have done this for hours. Quite a few healers and newbies got great experience and coins, thanks to Ragin' and the other more experienced exiles who were there."
The Grand Punfair, organized by Mjollnir, will be held today at 8 P.M. BST (12 P.M. Pacific Time).

J'nder sent the following report to TMN:
"There was a huge invasion by frogs today. It seems that the frogs took the characteristics of many creatures found in the lands. Thus there were frogs throwing lightning and spitting acid as well as "Hatred" and "Greater Death" frogs. Many exiles sheltered in the library and mounted wave after wave of attacks to try to reclaim the town. Eventually they succeeded, but only after many departs.
"Unfortunately my camera malfunctioned and I only got one snap. Hopefully you'll get more. This one's of me just after being felled by the "Greater Death" frog!"
Lundar also felt some frog wrath.
A few weeks back, some readers offered to help support the expenses and effort that go into TMN and suggested that I put up a PayPal link. I've implemented that suggestion in the right-hand column today. If you've enjoyed TMN and Fishwrap over the years and wish to contribute, I would certainly welcome the assistance. I don't expect a huge amount of revenue, but if some readers kick in $5, $10, or so every once in a while, it will help cover the hosting bills, etc. I considered putting up some ads, but I think they would have an adverse effect on the aesthetics and usefulness of the site.
I'll leave the PayPal button in the right-hand column for now (subject to change; the links column is undergoing a few changes right now, as I add the new Favorites buttons).
