Mordred Maerii reports to TMN:
"A new trainer arrived in town today and was greeted by Master Hekus. She seems to train healers in the same manner as Spirtus did not so long ago, before he changed his training methods. Hekus gave her a nice spot in the healer hall where she can train healers of any circle."
Thanks to Mordred, DaMoot, and others for sending accounts. Read the comments for more information.
Posted by Para at August 20, 2003 06:57 AMYay! Another female halfling trainer. We're poorly represented as it is. :-\
Posted by: Jazz on August 20, 2003 08:50 AMFor good reason.
Posted by: Polerand on August 20, 2003 11:45 AMWhat would that reason be Polerand?
Posted by: Himitsu on August 20, 2003 12:40 PMPeople keep tripping over you guys
Posted by: on August 20, 2003 12:43 PMThanks for the tip - it feels good to be back on track (back up to Grand Master, whoo!) and training the right stuff again!
Posted by: on August 20, 2003 12:47 PMI would think tripping people would make us more memorable instead of less. People don't easily forget those who give them skinned knees and hands, do they?
Posted by: Himitsu on August 20, 2003 03:28 PMthey do if they cant see what they tripped over
Posted by: on August 21, 2003 12:30 PMHmph, Halflings are not like stones which can be so easily ignored. If someone trips over us you can be sure we won't let you forget us.
Posted by: Himitsu on August 21, 2003 03:02 PMI take it Sprite only teaches healers..?
Posted by: Haze on August 22, 2003 12:52 AMI'm curious, did healers get retrofited to Sprite? I mean healers who had much Spirtus before he was changed, did they get their ranks transfered to Sprite so that they'd return to where they were?
Posted by: Drablak on August 22, 2003 06:20 AMSprite seems to be about the same as old (pre v284) Master Spirtus, but she is only accessible by healers (she resides in the healer hall). Yes, healers that got a downgraded rating from new Spirtus have a remarkable recovery when asking Sprite. No training changed or transferred, of course, just the relative assessment of it by these two trainers.
Posted by: on August 22, 2003 07:25 AMDon't forget, trainers don't look at the number of ranks you've trained, they look at your physical stats. After all, when you train Eva/Evus, the other trainers acknowlege your improvements in their specific fields.
Posted by: Coriakin on August 22, 2003 09:17 AMAh so no one lost any Respia from the change in Spirtus then, I thought it was the case.
Posted by: Drablak on August 22, 2003 09:50 AMWhy did they have to change Spiritus... and then add a new trainer *just like* the old Spiritus? Wouldn't it make sense to just add a new trainer than to mess around with an old one?
Posted by: on August 22, 2003 06:56 PMLooks like they caught on to that a little bit late in the game...
Posted by: DaMouth on August 22, 2003 08:54 PMThe problem was that DT did not want a respia trainer available to non healers.
The way DT invisioned certain fighter sub classes was upset by them training respia. Not sure how exactly but the result was that respia was removed from spiritus. In its place spiritus got an increase to the other components to make up for the lost respia.
There was enough pressure from healers that DT decided to add the old spiritus trainer back but limited it to healers.
In the end DT gets respia away from fighters and healers get to keep their old trainer. Makes sense to me.
Posted by: Artesia on August 22, 2003 08:55 PM"Why did they have to change Spiritus... "
So that fighters would no longer have access to a trainer with Respia.
"and then add a new trainer *just like* the old Spiritus?"
To make up for fucking with a trainer that is popular among some healers.
"Wouldn't it make sense to just add a new trainer than to mess around with an old one?"
Yes, but just like everyone else, GMs sometimes set their sights on a goal and forget to think about the consequences.
